Course Info Backyard Ultra

The Backyard Ultra format itself is an extreme test of endurance, and we're excited to offer it for this year's race. Participants must complete a 4.16 mile (6.7 km) loop within one hour and continue to run additional loops until they can no longer maintain the pace. The last runner standing will be declared the winner.

The race begins at 8:00 PM on Thursday and continues every hour until one person remains. Each loop starts exactly 1 hour after the last and no late starts are allowed. Except for restrooms, competitors may not leave the course until each loop is completed. No non-competitors are allowed on the course (including eliminated runners) and no personal aids are allowed during a loop (trekking poles are not allowed). Slower runners must allow passing. If no runner completes more loops than anyone else, there will be no winner. We will manually track runners during the race.

Between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM we will use the nighttime out-and-back course. Between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM we will use the daytime loop course.

The official aid station will be at the start/finish line with typical aid station foods such as water, isotonic, Red Bull, Coke, bananas, oranges, pretzels, chips, cookies, etc. Hot food will be available every 6 hours.
